Residential Construction can be Overwhelming. This is a series of helpful information to help you navigate your next project.
We have been General Contractors for over 30 years. We have Built, Remodeled, and Fixed countless properties for our clients; we love what we do. My intention is to give you, the homeowner, information on how contractors think and operate. This should help you decide on the right questions to ask, armed with the information you will need to pick the right Construction Company for you and your project.
Do You Have the Right Qualifications to Build My Home?
You want to build a new home, but not just any home—a home that meets certain criteria like a Passive House Certified Home or a Green Point Rated Home, or maybe you want a “Pretty Good House” (there are a few others not mentioned). Interviewing Contractors to find out what they know, how much experience they have, and what education they have received is a very important conversation when wanting a classification on your home. Of course, you can ask your contractor to read up on the type of building you want, and he/she may be able to understand the process and materials, but they will not be able to certify the building. Training and knowledge are power, take time, and cost money for the contractor. Not everyone wants to do business differently than usual; it takes time. So you may not find a lot of contractors with the right qualifications you require to get you the certifications you desire, but they are out there when you start to look for them. And yes, we are one of them! We have been in the business for a long time, but we also educate ourselves on an ongoing basis. We are there for you if you should choose to Build/Remodel with a Certification in mind.
Choosing to work with a professional company that has standard processes in place will make sure your project moves forward with peace of mind and that you have chosen the right company to work on your home.
