What comes first, Husband and Wife, or Business Partners? Jason loves to tell our story, while I’m a little more reserved because I don’t think everyone wants to hear another silly love story! So, let me apologize upfront to anyone who doesn’t want to hear it.
Here we go…
It all started back in 1979, yes, that long ago. I was 9 years old, and Jason was 12. My family moved into a condominium complex where Jason was living, and he quickly became friends with my two older brothers. So yes, the boy next door—or should I say, I’m the girl next door! Well, being 9 and him the older boy (who was already 6 feet tall at 12 years old), I thought he was beautiful. He, on the other hand, didn’t give me a second look. He was respectful and would never date his friend’s younger sister (until I was 18, of course).
Over the years, I never stopped looking at Jason as that guy. I would see him date other girls and think, “What does he see in them?” We lost touch over a few years, from 1984-1988. So, when we finally saw each other again in the summer of 1988, I was finally 18, and he was 21. The rest is, as they say, history! I feel like I married my best friend. We have two beautiful adult daughters, and we continue to work nonstop on our business. We not only love each other but also love what we do—making homes better, safer, healthier, eco-friendly, and energy-efficient for all our clients!
